I recently stumbled upon a
challenge, a challenge that seemed so interesting and ripe with potential for
multiple different take and directions that it deserved investigation.
The Guardian asked the Question...
'Do you have an image that captures the essence of the North?' In
response to this question I am to assume that 99% of readers/viewers will
respond with an array of clichéd images such as; small animals, grass, trees,
mud and general middle-class arrogance.
I intend to
approach the task in a different manner. I feel to effectively summarize an
entire region in one image it either needs to contain a hell of a lot visually,
or (potentially) more effectively... a message that 'encapsulates the essence'
of the people and region.
