Year 1, Term 1, Project 2. Promising Type.

Aim - To produce Spectacular Promises in Type.
Brief - Individual responses required/ your response has to be a designs to the brief for using words to sell the promise that a sketch-book can offer. Please refer to your briefing session notes. All students are required to produce a series of designs for the front and back covers of the four provided styles of sketch-books. You are required to tailor your designs to reflect a promise that each style of sketch-book offers a consumer that you have identified. You are only to use text and no images in the production of your designs. Use the provided sketch-books to get the dimensions to work to.
This brief was an interesting and fruitful differentiation from the previous ‘wordless’ brief which I struggled to create effective results with. I will explore every possible avenue within a ‘text’ only brief. Do I make the words appear as images? Embrace the text for what it is? Focus solely on what the words say rather than how they will look?
It goes without saying that it is vital to assess the potential target audiences of the sketchbooks and the U.S.P’s of the sketchbooks themselves. I intend to embrace to openness of this brief and not hold back in terms of; content, controversy, humour and wordplay, as is the essence of print advertising, which I intend to begin feeding into my work.
